About the event
Spring is a time for wildflowers – especially in the Columbia Gorge! From mid-February on, a parade of blossoms carpets its slopes. Professor Kenton Chambers of Oregon State University wrote: “In the entire Pacific Northwest region, no other area has a concentration of species equal to that found in this one river canyon.” And there is no better place to observe these blooms than along Catherine Creek on the Washington side of the gorge.
Dr. Keith Swenson, Adjunct Professor of Natural Sciences at Multnomah University, will lead this trip. Participants will observe, identify, and learn about many wildflower species. Hiking distance will be 3-4 miles over somewhat rough trails. Good physical fitness is required. The group will meet at 9:00 A.M. near the Hood River Starbucks and conclude about 4:00 P.M. Additional information will be sent to registrants prior to the trip.
