About the event

This outing led by Steve Hayley is tailored for those especially interested in an introduction to the abundant spring wildflowers of the East Columbia River Gorge. With a few short hikes, our focus will be on identification, using Jolley's "Wildflowers of The Columbia Gorge" (1988), and photography, for those interested. We can expect to examine 30-35 species, if past experience proves true. Also we will encounter quite a variety of birds.

We will meet at 9:00 am at the eastbound Memaloose Rest Stop, about 8 miles east of Hood River. Each family will receive a field book, describing much of what we see from a creation perspective. We also will have extra Jolley books on hand available to borrow. For these day trips, we suggest a donation of $25 per family (or $15 for the individual) which can be payed in person on the day of the tour. Cash is fine or checks addressed to "John Hergenrather."

Creation Encounter requests that you adhere to the following precautions to prevent transmission of the COVID-19 virus: 1. Please cancel if you have any COVID-19 type symptoms or think you have recently been exposed to the disease. 2. Practice social distancing: travel in your own family's vehicle and family groups should attempt to stay 6 feet apart. 3. Please bring adequate hand sanitizer for your family and use it when needed. 4. Each person should bring a face mask to use especially when social distancing is difficult to maintain.
