About the event
This outing, led by Keith Swenson, is tailored for those especially interested in the abundant spring wildflowers of the East Columbia River Gorge. Our focus will be on identification, using Jolley's "Wildflowers of The Columbia Gorge" (1988), and, for those interested - photography. We can expect to identify 30-35 species, if past experience proves true. Also participants will encounter a variety of birds.
We will meet at 9:00 am in the eastbound Memaloose Rest Stop on I-84, about 8 miles east of Hood River. Each family will receive a field guidebook, based on a creation perspective. We also will have extra Jolley books available for loan. Hiking will include options either for a moderate hike or a more difficult one along the Tom McCall Crest Trail.
