About the event
This event has been canceled and/or postponed until further notice; see our event status page.
This outing led by Steve Hayley is tailored for those especially interested in an introduction to the abundant spring wildflowers of the East Columbia River Gorge. Using Jolley's Wildflowers of The Columbia Gorge (1988) on a few short hikes, our focus will be on plant identification and photography for those who are interested. If past experience proves true, we can expect to examine 30-35 species of wildflowers while encountering quite a variety of birds.
We will meet by 9:00 am at the eastbound Memaloose Rest Stop about 8 miles east of Hood River. Each family will receive a field book which describes much of what we will see from a creation perspective. We also will have extra copies of Jolley’s guide available to borrow. For these day trips, we suggest a donation of $25 per family (or $15 for the individual) which can be payed in person on the day of the tour. Cash is fine or checks addressed to "John Hergenrather" will be suitable.
--Please also note that we have been implementing an Acknowledgement of Risk for our tours---
